My first post! I just found this forum last night, looks like fun. First, a celebration of my "victories" in Persia (AE As, issued around 232): I'll save the others for the next post, to make sure I did it right.
Welcome Severus Alexander, very nice coin for your first post, looking forward to seeing more in the future.
My favorite coin in my entire collection, and consequently my favorite victory: Roman Republic AR Victoriatus(3.07g, 18mm). Anonymous("Staff and club" series). 209-208 B.C., Etrurian mint. Laureate head of Jupiter right. Border of dots / Victory standing right, crowning trophy with wreath; Staff between. ROMA in exergue. Line border. Crawford 106/1; Sydenham 209; RSC 24n.
Victory appears holding trophy on reverse of this coin which was struck in Trier under Constantine the Great. The reverse reads "Sarmata Devicta", strange to me. RIC VII- 435.
