Bunch of new stuff up this morning. Ordered me this 2 ounce Broken Sword. Also, he has a 1917 OS Peace Dollar with the Broken Sword Reverse that looks pretty good.

Does the "high-relief" 1 oz overstrike have more detail than the 2 oz hard time token?

$175 for the 'fantasy' 1917 Peace dollar, apparently the price increases at the same rate as the number of 'fantasy' offerings overall.

 

Didn't take long for the haters to show up...might be a new record.

 

My guess is that since its a true high relief the dies might not last too long. Hence, the higher price. I wouldn't hesitate buying one of you want one.

 

Just visited MM, Dan has been busy lately. I would love one of each, Morgan, and Peace clashed. Well, I want at least one of all MM products.

 

Yeah I read the same thing about the (limited to 1,964 in all finishes) Morgan PL yet that one and other finishes is still available weeks later.

 

I believe he originally said they would be available through the end of February based on ordering patterns of past releases.

 

One typically never knows the final mintages until they are done however with the stress on the dies from doing a true high relief Peace Dollar as well as already stressed out dies from clashing the 64 Morgan dies that_hard plus all the previous strikings I wouldn't take the chance on them lasting too long but that's just me. Maybe a few days, maybe a few weeks. Who knows. I do know these are going to fly off the shelf though. The $175 for the HR Peace overstrike might prevent some people from getting multiples but I'm sure they will still sell well.

 

If you're selling widgets for $100, and you realize that many of your customers are buying multiples and reselling them for $200, what's your logical course of action?

 

The prices are up there for sure, but they have a very high probability of increasing in value, and no competition to compare to, except in China. Lol.

 

@Cascade well he announced there wouldn't be more than 1,964 of the 1964 Morgans across all finishes. Didn't know if this Peace dollar is mint to demand or if there was there a set mintage like the Morgan. The dies may not last long but it's not exactly a labor intensive process having a machine cut more dies imo it's not like this is done by hand.

That would be my assumption based on the price difference (and the "high relief" description).

 

I think the 1 oz version might be the cheapest alternative for those that want an example (I picked up one of these).
It also reminds me on the encased coins and stamps, which is a cool touch!
