So as I've gotten back in to collecting more recently, I also started dabbling in roll hunting. Nothing huge just maybe 3 rolls of each denomination on an occasion; although I can never find any half dollars in Atlanta. My last search netted a 1953 quarter, 4 wheaties (1919, 1937, 1941, 1945), dateless Buffalo, and a nice MS 1960 one cent. Quite surprised and happy with the finds overall. First time finding a silver quarter in a roll. Now comes to the good part, searching through the remaining for errors or varieties. My question is, what does everyone in the CRH community tend to search for? Are most people looking for only silver? Do people actually sit and review each coin with a copy of the Cherrypicker's Guide in hand? I've done that before and I don't know if I should feel embarrassed or normal. I also cull out all the copper pennies, saving any good examples, and putting the rest in a bag. Anyone want to share stories on what they look for or their "process" during the search?
I just look for silver in boxes of Halves. I have a lot of 1964P Kennedy's that I am going to look for accented hair, just haven't gotten around to it.

Pretty much what Nut said above. You do your thing and ask questions and we'll give you feedback. From that, you find out what you want to do. I hunt cents. I get a combo of both brw and crw. I sort them out by date and put them in to tubes. When a tube gets full I wrap them up and label them with the date. I throw the roll in an ammo can and will eventually go through the roll to look for known errors under my scope. I do it like this so I can concentrate on one year and the errors that they are known for. It takes more time like this but I don't want to miss anything. Good luck on your hunt!
Thats a nice process, I'm curious as to how many ammo cans you've filled. I prefer cwr but I'll take whatever they have. If it's in the Cherrypicker's guide I'll look for it, although it is time consuming and usually end up with nothing. If you are going to look at each and every coin and find something that isn't in the cpg. there is Strike it rich with pocket chng, and many a website. I like www.varietyvista.com bThe books only have a small amount of variety's.
