That's just awesome! Giving back. Cool novelty as well. I have a button, circa mid 1800's from the Benedict & Burham Co. and now the company is called, "The Waterbury Button Co." out of Waterbury CT. ! Found while metal detecting. I called them in years prior, and they were interested in having it for their button display at the Company. Now, with your story, maybe I will go ahead and let them have it. Also, maybe they will give you free tickets to the vehicle museum.
Is it supposed to have the hole in it, or was that added? Sometimes the hole is part of the intended design, sometimes it isn't. Is it just me, or is a plastic encased cent unusual? I can't recall seeing many of them... but I haven't been looking either.
