I did not even mean to buy this coin. I had added it to my cart but went back to delete it and my fat thumb must have clicked "buy". I knew the bad habit of having a card already on file and address already pre-filled with a dealer would bite me in the butt eventually. LOL.

That being said, it's not a bad mistake. It is a pretty and historic token, and I have been meaning to add more historical tokens to my collection.

The obverse is No. 5 and the reverse is H. Not the rarest combination, but also not one of the more common ones either.

Feel free to post your own tokens.

Bummer but it could be worse, it could be an ugly Feuchtwanger but it's not, it's a nice one! thumbsup.gif

I think these are so cool. I had one on my list when I was going to a show a few years back before I went I leaned on a buddy of mine that teaches German and made him teach me how to properly pronounce "Feuchtwanger".

Doesn’t look like a mistake to me, that’s really nice! I’ll send you my mailing address if you don’t want to keep it…:)

…so, is it “ fyoot-vahn-ger”…? I’m of Dutch-German ancestry but I don’t speak German fluently, just individual common nouns and such. My son is fluent but I can’t reach him just now, he’s at the airport working on a Dassault-Falcon jet.

If I was to try to show it I would probably do it like Foicht-Vong-Hur.... Except the "ch" in Foicht is not a sound my mouth can make very well!...... I spent three years in Germany in the Army. I could order a beer and tell a lady I wanted to date her. That was about the extent of my German!

That last part reminds me of a contractor (MJF Electric) I worked for while I was still in the union. I thought it was a joke when I saw his name written out, "Michael J. Fuchs." I was corrected rather promptly when I guessed wrong the first time LOL! (It was pronounced Fyooks)

I like it! If memory serves correctly, my first slabbed Feuchtwanger was an XF45, like yours.

Then I upgraded to this one...

... which I sold at some point in the process of upgrading to this one...

... so you might say I'm "three deep" in Feuchtwanger cent upgrades by now.

Which never would have happened if I did not like them so much.

Not an easy word, I admit. I would write it: Foicht-vaan-ger.

I like the design, and yours is a nice example of this token.

I only own one example of the 'Foicht-vaan-gehr' cent, but it's a scarce one, variety 3-D.

Here is my best Feuchwanger cent.

    Feuch Cent All.jpg

I won this one for an exhibit at a FUN show a few years ago.

This is the most common of the Feuchwanger three cent piece. It's a lot scarcer than the cent, but it's not impossible to find. The prices I have paid have been in the $1,200 area. The other Feuchwanger three cent pieces are a lot rarer and more expensive. All of these coins are still raw, not certified.
