I got this for my B-day, from myself :) The lettering is doubled on part of the coin. Above "Constan" one the obv. and "Paratio" on the rev. I am guessing it is a double struck but I'm not the best at telling what kind of errors are on coins. Would I be correct? It's to dang glossy to snap a decent pic, apologies.

Here are the much better pics from the dealer if that helps.

Could easily be double struck. Unlike modern coins, double strikes are quite common on ancients.

Darn glossies! My nemesis for pics too.

Is it possible it could just be a shifted die, though it wouldn't make sense due to the figures not shifted.

Hopefully Doug can help, or ask Dane?

They probably just whacked it twice. Maybe they didn't get a satisfying whack the first time. It's possible that the coin rattled a bit and rotated slightly between whacks. That would make the DS more obvious in the lettering than in the portrait or reverse image.

Thanks all. I know it's not the nicest, but one I wanted that I was able to get cheap.

After looking at it again I can now see that the coin didn't rotate, it just shifted over a bit between strikes.
