Just it's 5 cent face value. The rim on the reverse has suffered some kind if post mint damage which takes away any collector value it might have. But, due to it's otherwise circulated condition, this could would not have any collector value without the damage.
It was encased in something for a spell. It was squeezed down into it, with the heads' end up, the tails' end down.

I don't think so. Look closely at the edge. You can see that some of the coin metal extends over the reverse of the coin as though it was subjected to a grinding wheel. If it had been squeezed into a bezel, the metal would be pushed toward the edge nearer the obverse. Chris
That's how they prep it, then it's just a squeeze job from there. So yes, it was ground into that shape.
No, but it doesn't matter. You don't taper the edge that severely to insert it in any sort of bezel or holder. Chris
