Yes. Yes. I'm over here very very concerned and agitated. Darn you to Heck, baseball. Darn you to heckfire! Lol!
It's not just eBay. Look for yourself at various auction houses and also submit to CAC regularly. Many more PCGS holders get stickered than NGC. I almost don't want to send NGC coins anymore unless they are solid for the next grade up which is rare to begin with.
Lol. I've sent 2 orders to PCGS in the past 2 months. Zero to NGC. But you keep on like you're my neighbor, baseball.
I'm also a part time Intensive In-home Counselor and a part time Uber driver just so my record is out there. CT has a right to know who they're dealing with!
Maybe it's the way you worded your title John. To say they were taken to the woodshed is obsured. That letter was written from a position of weakness not strength. It wreaks of desperation.
I found the letter/email to be very interesting, we'll written, unprecedented in its nature, and quite telling. (Although it's from one perspective). And yes, I have an opinion about that which I am happy to share. So far this has been a lively and interesting discussion!
I don't really have a preference on the big 2 but the tone of that letter combined with the more user friendly rule changes NGC rolled out this year (which were all good changes btw) leads me to believe that NGC may be hurting for business more than they are letting on.
Rampant gradeflation affects the hobby as a whole, and negatively imo. I think the TPG's also cause another problem in that many people no longer can grade for themselves and simply blindly trust whatever is on the label. But primarily as a collector you're right and I could just ignore it. Especially since I own a lot more raw coins than I do slabbed. But I'm also still young enough that I'll likely live to see the effects this has and how it plays out over the next 3/4 decades on the hobby as a whole, well lord willing that is.
How does he not have a financial interest (also ego interest) in shaping that letter. PCGS quotes CAC rates when they do it or prices sold. NGC just went 3rd grade play ground saying but but but they did this. Really didn't though. He did the bullion seller version of Silver is up X percent since 2001 invest while you can.
He just accused PCGS of rampant deliberate gradeflation over a specific period of time, and backed it up with facts. I dunno how much harder you could kick someone in the crotch.
What facts? How many were NGC crossovers? How many were resubmits? How many were first time graded coins? Where is the NGC comparison? Why do NGC coins sticker less, why do NGC coins sell for less. This is a very complicated and long drawn out fight if he wants to make it, he won't win though.
It sounds like you think CAC is biased against NGC. If that's the case, it wouldn't be a surprise to have many more PCGS holders stickered than NGC.
