1857 quarter Reverse Clash with Flying Eagle Cent?

I think you are seeing things...the coin is corroded.

 

I consided your coin a Lowball coin.. Nothing else.

 

No die clash. A very worn quarter that has passed through many hands. Here is a picture of the die clash.

I'm leaning yes. I found one of these in ag03 once. It's hard to see in under vf.

 

Tough coin. I don't think it's the clash variety. The marks don't seem to line up.

 

How does a quarter get clashed with a cent?

 

There are many different opinions on the topic. We will never know for sure.

To be fair, it could just as easily have been a blind-drunk operator. "DUI" didn't exactly exist yet in 1857.
