No definitely not. They will give it a details grade because of the bezel. Even if you remove it they can tell.
I think that it has been polished. There no way that it will grade. The only certification that it will need is a jewlry store test that it is made of gold.
So I have 2 other gold coins 1 is $5.00 and the other $20.00 gold in bezels just like the first so they are all ungradable?
Not Ungradeable just that the coin would come back as details, Ex Jewelry most likely and not worth the money to have it graded. Once a coin is put in a bezel as jewelry it's pretty much considered bullion, you might as well wear it.
Well the bezels are gold as well, is there any chance that if They're taken out of the bezels I can sell the bezels too
check to see if the bezel is marked. If you know the weight and karat of the gold https://www.silverrecyclers.com/Calculators/gold_calculator.aspx You can ballpark the melt value. Pawnshops don't typically pay much money for precious metals or jewelry. a custom jewelry store would probably be better for a local sale. The classified section here would be a good place to sell.
I'm still debating whether I should remove it from the bezel to see what it looks like, who knows what's under there right
I don't know how you waited this long The screw is already out. I have a number of gold bezels put away that were on bars and coins I freed.
Well I took the bezel off and it didn't have any marks from the bezel so I took it to a coin show here in town and even ungraded they payed $3,800.00 and then payed another $185.00 for the gold bezel for scrap weight of 18kt.
Wow. Nice. I would have like to known what the bezel weighed but you did well. FWIW the bezels are usually 10k - 14k gold so maybe they misquoted the karat of gold? Who knows you did well.
They paid $500 over spot? I wasn't aware that these had that much collector value, specially ex-jewelry.
