@paddyman98 Do you mind to give me your thoughts on this? I saw a thread a couple months back that showed an example you have. I don't recall the year or which mint it was from. Can you or anyone else tell me if this was in fact a quarter struck on dime stock? Weighs 4.2 grams. 20170115_163625.jpg 20170115_163539.jpg 20170115_163411.jpg

even the stock is significantly less then 4 grams, id guess 2.3g for stock

a nickel is 5g, and could have been shaved from there....

There is a place to search for key words by tapping the magnifying glass on the top right of my screen. Right below where we see our alerts for the forum. If I tap it and punch in "quarter struck on dime stock", theres a thread where @paddyman98 talks about this. And I thought, maybe I had run across this same phenomenon.

Are you saying this might possibly be from nickel stock? I have no idea. Don't know what to make of it. Lol.

I think his and others I have seen are 70d.
I also think that's exactly what you have.
    Where did you find it?

Take a photo of it next to a dime and a nickel.
It just looks like a worn quarter.
Recalibrate your scale to 0, and put the nickel and the quarter
    on the scale together.

I got it about 6 months ago and an old antique store mixed in with some other coins. The flip it was in was labled "mis stamped quarter***$4" I offered him $2 and walked out with it. I put it with my other coins and kind of forgot about it until I read that thread with Paddyman I'm speaking of. I've been meaning to take it out and ask about it on here but kept putting it off. Glad I did though.

And here's my scale with just the nickel. I'm pretty sure my scales are good. 20170115_173926_Burst01.jpg

Well the picture shows it is quarter sized.
The weight is another issue. 2 grams missing is a lot. But I suspect it has been altered post mint either by circulation, or machinery and is not an error.

I found the example that paddyman showed a while back. This is what I meant by "dime stock".....metal thickness meant for a dime. I really hope Paddyman98 doesn't mind I used his picture. Screenshot_2017-01-15-18-08-55.png

    Hi..I am here
I will say big chance that you do have a Quarter struck on Dime Stock.
I acquired another specimen recently. When I get a chance I will touch on your coin and my new one (I'm on a date with my girlfriend) ;)
