    Hello everyone,
    Happy Memorial Day 2025!

Today I did a 6 hour metal detecting hunt with my buddy Carlos Gonzalez at 2 locations.
2 Silver at Pelham Bay Park and 4 at Hunter Island. Both locations are in the Bronx NYC.

    6 Silver

The ring is possibly silver and the stone will be tested to see if it's a diamond.

I'm curious, have you ever gone home empty handed? Great finds by the way!

Well not totally empty handed. Sometimes it's all just clad and cents. I've had silverless hunts :shifty:

It must be a special thrill to recover a SLQ with a readable date. Also, test to be sure but I have never seen a diamond set in a silver ring like that.

    Not just trash.
We dispose of used syringes that are carelessly left in the open in many parks. :yack:

Oh boy, I have found somewhat fresh shell casings here in Hartford at Keney Park. Scary place even with others. Some guys don't even go there despite it being the oldest part of the park. Lots of Large cents and Silver found there. Not a place i want to go to again.
(remember: I'm only 5'5", 175 lbs. with a short shovel).
Problem solved, bring along the wife.:p

    It sure is.

Let me share this funny moment that happened to us today.
I was the first one to detect a SLQ and it had the date of 1925. Then about 15 minutes later Carlos found a silver Washington. After he took it, he covered up the hole and I went to recheck it. I told him that there was another signal. I dug up the hole and my second SLQ popped out with the exact date of the first one.. 1925 :wideyed:
He was shocked and congratulated me. So, after I finished covering up the hole he goes back and also rechecks it. He notices that there was another signal. He digs and finds another SLQ. I was shocked. I'm telling him that we should always recheck, and he goes to do it a third time and finds silver! :banghead:
But we were just thrilled to get them silvers out of their graves :smug::smuggrin:

And that's why I never have a negative attitude towards detecting a certain place. I've found several coin in places that were considered "Detected out". Just go slow up and down hills and in hard to get to areas and you'll be successful. ;)
I once found a small motto 2 cent, 1864 of course at a cellar hole that others told me were tapped out. I proved them wrong. :)

Nice little haul sir. You had a beautiful day to spend doing what you like to to. Congratulations on finding all that silver.
