I had an interesting experience tonight. On my way home from work I picked up $200 in CWRs of half dollars, which wss all the bank had. I immediately noticed there was a good variety of paper wrappers in the mix, and the majority had scotch tape on them. Typically I consider this a good sign.

I looked through them a few minutes ago and found all the rolls had been slit up the side, likely visually searched for silver, and taped closed...I'd never seen CWRs slit and taped! Did the searcher fail to realize CWRs are easily opened on either end?!?

Of course, I found no silver, but I managed to salvage 2 NIFC in UNC condition, so it wasn't a total waste of my time

    HH everyone!

Only 12 boxes this week, winter storm kept one of my banks from ordering, bummer.

About 30 1973-2010s clads(didn't show all in pictures) Really nice condition. Actually surprised there weren't more silvers. In the past when I have found proof halves, especially NIFC coins in a box, it's always been an indicator of silver. However not in boxes 9-12. All the NIFCs were in those only four 40s.

We'll see what next week brings.

Decided to get $20 of my cash back at the bank in rolls... nothing too exciting though.

    $14 MWR nickels: 1941, 1968-S, 1970-S (I find a lot of the 70S for an east coaster)

    $6 MWR pennies: 1946, 1952-D, 1970-S, 1971-S, 1973-S, 3 Canada, 2 nicely toned zincolns that the photo doesn't do justice (1983 & 1999)

~$70 in loose and rolled halves from 3 different banks tonight yielded zilch...the good news is the vault teller at 1 bank offered to take my name and number and call me when halves come into the bank :greedy:

That's great that that happened. Hopefully something will come of it, you may have to give that person an incentive to feed you though, i.e chocolates, donuts or whatever.

Pretty lame for that much volume. I am at 4 ounces for the month, hopefully I can hit 10.

Bmann, I encourage you to ask for CWRs more often. I'm finally building relationships with tellers at multiple banks. I have done better with CWRs the last three months than when I focused on boxes the previous three years.

That said there is a lot of turnover in teller positions, so relationships can quickly end at any time. One simply needs to keep at it.

I have had one huge score with CWR. Other than that I've just been getting other people's dumps big time. Loose stuff has been better for me than CWR. Things are changing with my Coin Roll Hunting. I may need to look into more CWR with my bank getting rid of their coin machines.

I've noticed the same thing. I come across S-mint coins in change maybe once a year here in NC, but I've picked up two or three 1970-S nickels in the last five years or so.

Bmann, consider keeping $100 in nickels around so you can scratch the itch when banks are closed and you're craving a search.

I had about $200 in nickels stashed for a cold snowy day like today...I'm ~$50 into them and I've 3 wars and 2 buffs so far, which is better than my average...HH!
