I don't know. The photos are not clear enough for even the experts to make an educated guess. It's a raw coin. For something so rare, what are they hiding? No one really cares if it has details. Authenticity is the biggest issue. Why not get it graded and let the chips fall where it may? If it's a problem free coin, auction it at one of the major houses, it will bring a small fortune. This is very slimy and shady.
Is the seller for real? An 1893-S Morgan Dollar with face of $1.00 and it made in San Francisco. It’s been circulated but it’s AU-58+++ and on top of that the bid is up to $14,350 and it will cost you an additional $4.25 to ship. That’s a first class padded envelope. Oh, and be sure your credit card has a reserve for the funds.
Because they know it's a fake. Otherwise it would be graded and for sale at triple the price of that AU+++ whatever nonsense they have it listed as. Why people continue to allow themselves to be deceived solely in search of a good deal is beyond my comprehension. Something that expensive needs to be certified and graded by a top-tier company for me to even consider it.
Apparently they are lining up at the sheep stall to be sheared. I'll gamble on a sleeper coin that flies under the radar for less than $100. That's about 10 minutes at a blackjack table. Now this?????? No way, no how, no way Jose!
I asked for a close-up of "RT" of LIBERTY; 2 main attribution points of a genuine 1893-S Morgan. And this:
Ebay is infected with vultures. I've sold quite a bit of items on there but stopped about 15 years ago. I don't even have access to my old account anymore. They had money leftover that they sent to the state, which I then collected once I realized it was sitting there. I try my best to avoid the Fleabay because it's not worth my time. At least not anymore. I still know people who sell there, and my favorite LCS even sells there every so often with putting up unsold coins at unreserved $0.99 auctions and let's it ride. But I avoid it to the best of my ability.
Thank you Mr Young. Tell them you work for the Secret Service. They need to get their act together over there. They are killing our hobby.
