That's not a DDO. It's an alteration to the copper plating which affected the numerals and lettering.
I was thinking maybe it was some machine doubling, but a coin thats been around like this one it could be anything I suppose.
This coin looks like the end result of what you get when it enters one end and exits the other end of a dog. You'd be surprised how many dogs swallow coins that are laying around. Of course, this is just one possibility. There are literally thousands of ways a coin can end up looking like this one. I come across them in the front yard every so often. After the droppings dry up and disintegrate into the grass, coins like this one, are left behind.
