Hello everyone. I got an idea yesterday while going to the dispensary yesterday. I always look out the window and look for Eagle nests along the way on the highway. :rolleyes:This time it hit me, an idea for a daily theme! I didn't see any eagles, but I have this thread. Like the title says, It's "Flying Eagle Friday!".
Please post your Eagles. Any coin, token or medal with a flying eagle will do. ;)
(BTW: Got me an oz. for $45!! ;)).
Take care, have a great weekend all! :)

That's what I've got, too. Just mine have more "experience", lol. I'll trade you! Actually, I wouldn't do that because you'd be getting cheated.

I've only got two FE cents, both dated 1857 and both in type sets.

I just completed the "album set" without the album. This is sort of dream set for me. I never figured I would have all four.

1856. There was a hole in my first Flying Eagle / Indian Cent album. I figured I would never fill it when I was a teenager.

The Red Book said that there were 1,000 of these minted for many years. Now the guess is about 2,250. It doesn't matter; it's still expensive.

And the design source, the Gobrecht Dollar. The mint had the 1836, '38 and '39 dies around and were making restrikes from them. This is a restrike of the 1839 Gobrecht Dollar, which was probably struck in the late 1850s.

That one has some interesting die break patterns. It shows part of the reason why the Flying Eagle design was abandoned so soon.

Those aren't die breaks. They're clash marks from an obverse Liberty Head Double Eagle die.

I knew that was a common theme in these. Snow..Definitely a lot of character in this short series. You could have dozens and not have them all.
