Morning everyone! I hope all is well and Happy Easter to those of you that celebrate this holiday. I could be wrong, but is this a die error or it is something else? As always, I appreciate your help with any info and also for responding. Stay well and stay safe. IMG_4693.jpg IMG_4697.jpg IMG_4696.jpg IMG_4698.jpg IMG_4699.jpg

Hello and Welcome to the forum! The proper term is "Die Error" Not "Dye". That's just silly. :wacky:
Anyways, it's just staining or Post mint damage.:p

Thanks for the Easter wishes. Same to you.
But you don't have to state Good Morning, afternoon or evening on your thread titles ;)

I concur with Damage. Staining of the copper plating. Harsh chemicals such as soda will do that.

    probably a cup holder coin.
ie, a coin dropped in your vehicles cupholder, which people them spill their coca-cola, pepsi etc in the cup holder and all the coins in the bottom collect the drying goop and stain the coin.

That's absolutely fine and it's appreciated.. But you can say Hello in the first post of your thread. The title should be simple and to the point..

Imagine if author Harper Lee made the title of his book, Good Morning, I wrote this book for you. To Kill a Mockingbird :wacky:

    Actually, Harper Lee wasn't a man. ;)

Due to the staining I suppose one could classify it as a Dye error.

Dye Error? Is that even a thing?
I’m thinking I may have Double Dye Error

How about a "double dying error"?

Welcome @Ezeeepass. Looks like you've been a member for several years, but have been sporadic in your participation, so I guess I should say, "Welcome back."
Because your coin is damaged, and not an error, it won't hurt anything to do a small experiment. Get 100% acetone (not fingernail polish remover that has additives) and let the coin soak for a day or two, and then see if you can scrape off the coating with a plastic spoon or something soft (thumb nail, etc,) just to see if you can tell what it was coating the coin.
