Spotted a couple of 1921 Morgans on the bay, and one of them happens to look like an ACTUAL Brilliant AU 1921-P Morgan. The other is a 1921-S but it's putting off too many red flags to me as it the details on it look artificially "worn" (i.e.: Eagles chest and feathering) vs the areas where the mintmark is. Whole coin looks like a matte gray colored cheap casting over having the luster from being struck at the mint (which probably explains why it's listed for cheaper and the seller has a generic name vs the other).
What do you guys think? I'm tempted to buy the good one, seems like a great price for one that doesn't look cleaned at ALL.

I'd stay far away from that S mint. It's a stock photo to begin with, not the actual coin being sold. It says, last one, 20 sold. It is also circulated.

Yeah and unfortunately they don't mention that anywhere at all as well.

I purchase no coins on eBay if the seller is less than 100% positive. Lesson learned the hard way!

    The 1921-S is totally fake.

I'm 95% certain the Brilliant Uncirculated one is AU and I suspect lightly cleaned. At the very best it's MS-62 or lower.

I've had terrible transactions with seller that had 100% positive reviews and I've had terrific experiences with sellers that didn't.

I'd rather take that Morgan over the 3 peace dollars I got burned on (Advertised as Gem BU with stock photos and ended up getting one ungradeable from a ding on the rim, and two that looked moderately cleaned.) Seller had a 99.5% rating.

Anyone who has a 100% positive review either has very few transactions or is a high volumn coin mill of junk coins who will accept all returns for any reason under the sun to keep their 100% rating. Their photos are either washed out or outright fraudulent. They can be horrible dealers who rely on most people not going through the hassle of doing a return and just throwing a coin in a drawer to be forgotten forever in disgust. Most of those particular dealers hawk pawn shop junk fodder. They got their wares at melt or even less.

You can't please everyone for sure. I've read some negative reviews on really good sellers. There are some very uneducated buyers that become unhinged for silly reasons and wrongly accuse the seller. It is a mixed bag all the way around. I'm not sure I would want to sell anything on eBay for those reasons, not to mention the 13% haircut right out of the gate. That's almost internet piracy.

The 1921-S has the wrong mint mark. The real one is very small, actually small enough that it’s hard to read.

Too each his own I understand your reasoning, thank you.

Stay away. The last year of Morgan Dollars are easy to find in any condition.

They are easy to find for sure, but in choice or gem grade, the Denver and San Francisco mints are a lot more pricey than their Philly sister. That is still surprising to me, those two mints still minted about 20 million a piece. Maybe people started actually using them in daily transactions, I don't know.

I just found all three mints in my junk silver. I have both high and low grade. You just have to look for them.

If you are forming an all mints Morgan Dollar type set, you have to have the 1921-D. It’s the only Denver Mint coin in the series.

I know. But I'm just saying they are nothing special. I have several. There were more 1921Ds (at 20 million) minted than any other year and mint prior to 1921. The next closest high mintage pre 1921 was 1886 at 19 million.
