My wife and I went to sell some items from my mother's estate yesterday. We learned that this little item, made of sterling silver, could fit on watch chain and could be used to store postage stampes. It's an inch wide and an inch and quarter tall. I learned today from another blogger on another site that it was made by R. Wallace and Sons from Wallingford, Connecticut. A three cent stamp would a nuisance today, but back in the day, when you might work a full day to make a dollar, it was “real money” sort of.
