I believe I have located my first gold piece. It is in a PCGS slab. I checked the cert, and it isn't a fake slab. I wanted to check out price, and auction values, It will also be my biggest purchase ever. Pcgs has this priced at 550$ Ngc has the grade listed as 1150$ Latest auctions have it in the range of $585 to $775 I guess my question to ya'll is do you think it is worth $700? To give you the closest example I can find here is one from a Heritage auction. http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=131415&lotNo=28306&type=NGC131415 The one that I am looking at is very lustrous and colorful.
Impossible to say without seeing the actual coin but yes that is in the range if you like it and want it
That would be very much dependent on whether it's an 1893 or an 1893-S. The linked coin is an 1893-S, for which (assuming it's MS63) $700 would be near top-of-market and not a number I'd offer the coin linked with that looks like (I know it isn't) a continuous gouge across the obverse. $700 for an 1893-P in 63 would be a windfall for the seller, and $150 more than one has sold for in the last year.
Did you miss the S in the thread title? If so, then yes, spend the money if you feel it a solid and attractive example at the grade. If not, don't.
I am gonna Have to meander on back to this coin, and if the coin is acceptable for the Grade and Toned, I will have to throw an offer at him.
