Funny thing is, this poll is actually (weak) evidence that it won't harm the hobby a bit. About 2/3 of respondents either approve of or don't care about these overstrike tokens. Meanwhile, zero people have actually attempted to actually do anything about this supposed menace to the hobby.
I don't count Roger Burdette. Even if he was successful, the most he could have done is gotten Mr. Carr kicked out of the ANA. Big whoop.
I strongly suspect letters and/or calls have been attempted elsewhere trying to get action taken but just went no where. The government doesn't post a list of rejected complaints
Maybe we should start our own poll. How many people are sick and tired of seeing all the arguments over Carr's work?
Sure... choices would be: I like them! Meh, doesn't do it for me. They make me mad enough to post on the internet but not actually do anything about it!
People here seem to have become obsessed with DC copies. I don't visit the site that much, maybe twice a week....but, I've noticed lately that there are at least two or three topics regarding DC on the first page of coin chat. What's up with that? Are government issued coins soon to be taking a back seat to legal or illegal FAKES? Is coin collecting morphing into metal rounds collecting?
Fantasy pieces aren't legal tender that is true, but the overwhelming majority of both are just a disk of metal that trade for their numismatic or bullion value not their face value.
Yet you and Carr supporters keep posting to them. If you think I am irrational, then why are you arguing with me? Apparently you have nothing to do but troll. The question I posed is a legitimate one. If people are tired of reading Carr threads, then there is an easy solution: Don't open the threads. If you open a thread, then you have no right to complain when people express dissenting opinions.
Ha. Who's the troll? I dont believe any Carr supporters are starting threads just for the sake of argument. In fact, it seems when a Carr piece is posted, it is the Carr opponents who steer the thread into an argument. So again, who's the troll here? P.S. instead of whining on a public forum, and telling everyone how wrong it is, get up from your computer and go do something to prove your point. File complaints with whoever, sue, just do something other than tell everyone who has a differnent opinion as you, that they are wrong.
I would but the redundancy with these threads is ridiculous. Im sure most would rather me not start another Carr thread that would go 50 pages.
