Well, as soon as someone mentions the HPA/CCPA, asks him to 'sign his work,' or calls him a counterfeiter, I'm going to have a second thread on ignore.
In fairness, I genuinely did have a kosher motivation for this and the other poll. This was not to debate the law, to foster cheerleading, or to start a war. I think I need a break from this place.
Meh, just use the 'ignore thread' function. My blood pressure dropped 10 points overnight when I did it!
I just got the feeling that the mods are watching this like Lord of the Flies to see who remains standing in the end...
Excellent point, Paul. Before I say something I'd like to take back later, I'm going to use the ignore thread, especially with the insufferable arrogance I just noted from a member, who, to my knowledge has never posted a coin on this site.
I think everyone that has posted to this thread has posted coin images here. I also don't see any arrogance from anyone in this thread.
Yes it would. Maybe not cheap, we might argue over who the target population is, but doable. I am about to leave for the FUN show. I bet I could get valid results in the show by interviewing participants there. Sorry, neck deep in my doctoral studies right now and taking advanced methodologies, so had to respond to a design study question.
Fair points as always Jeff. If they are truly trashed coins and not just "common" coins I object less. FWIW, I think the crud from.HSN and others is worst for the hobby, and nothing we can say can ever stop that.
LOL. Looking at my multiple bags of cull coins, I'm going to have to go with "No." On the other hand, I do continue to circulate modern coins on a daily basis, rather than preserving each in its current state. I'll bet that you do the same. This implies that each of us has some threshold for collectability.
That is entirely arbitrary. There is a group of PCGS Registry collectors that intentionally seek out PCGS Poor-1 coins for instance.
Yeah, that would be a decent way to get valid results for people who attend FUN, but that's a tiny minority of what I'd consider the target population to be. For one thing, it would exclude me!
Well, the results seem to be mostly in, and all I see here is 20 people who care enough to click a button (which is about 5 times as many who care enough to make a post), and zero people who care enough to do anything about it.
Detrimental? You people act like this is going to destroy the hobby. And if you actually do believe that, then maybe you need to step away from CT or coins for awhile and get back to the real world. I wish Mr Carr's work was the biggest problem in my life. To some of you, the legality of Mr Carr's work is your life. Are you just so bored that you have to stir up drama on the internet? The first 50 page Carr thread didnt give you your way, and neither will this one. Gosh some people need to get a life.
