Nice one. I just received a Morgan I ordered yesterday. It’s a low grade set and now I’m fine to just needing 4 more to have them all. I have 4 Whitman folders and I need one coin in each folder. I’m feeling the pain of near completion. Lol
I'm so far off from mine being completed that counting the empty holrs makes me feel like it's almost impossible. Which coins are you missing? And @alhenry92 that's a beautiful looking coin!
Thanks guys, I appreciate it! But @Collecting Nut im willing to bet it’s either a Carson City or a New Orleans minted year. They almost ALWAYS seem to fetch a premium for a lot of coins
Now I have my list. One day a year or two ago I went through all of my silver dollars. My the time I was finished I had enough to go buy the folders. There are 4 folders and I only needed about 12-15 coins to fill them all. I bought this coin last week and now I’m down to 4 coins, one in each folder. Here’s the four I need: 1881-CC 1885-CC 1893-S 1903-O The 1881-CC is affordable but the others are expensive. The 1893-S is several thousand dollars in the worst of conditions and the other two are high but doable.
I feel that, my 1883-CC ran me at 275ish when I won it in an ebay auction. It's got great detail, but it's got rim dings.
Rim dings are fairly common due to the size, weight and metal content of Morgan’s. I only need four and two of them are CcC mints. It’s the 1893-S that leads to pain in the wallet but I’ll find one and then I’ll grin and bear it. Lol
I've got the '85-CC (GSA) and '03-O so far from those. Had a chance at the '81-CC but didn't have the spare money. He was asking $1k and I was several hundred short, which really stunk because it was beautiful and probably a 65 if graded. Saw a 93-S but $4k for a slick in plastic wasn't in the cards that day. I look forward to the day I can only have 4 holes left though. I know it's going to strain the finances for a good few of them. Trying to go with eye-appealing specimens can get pricey!
They add up fast still, even in lower grades. I just got an 8tf that isn't really much of a looker, but if fills the hole until an upgrade comes around.
