In the past I've listed older (pre-1963) US currency for bid/sale on eBay. Mostly $1 face items, but some higher face values. I would create images by scanning notes, then posted the images on eBay along with the a text description. I believe I even did this with 1963 FRN's. But somewhere along the line with newer FRN series I wasn't able to do that. The newer notes appeared to have a security feature incorporated in their design and I couldn't save the images nor post them on eBay as a listing. Now I'd like to list newer FRNs on eBay. How do I get around the security features problem?
Yep. I don't remember the technical details, but it struck me as kind of silly and hopeless. As far as I know, photographing such bills still works. Scanning software may block on the pattern, and printers may also balk at them, but the Wikipedia article has a photo of (part of) a US$20 bill.
Complex issue for sure! Maybe take a pic with a Polaroid one step and then take a pic of your pic! Might work!
I read about the "EURion" but in my case I don't think that's the problem. My difficulty involved the series that were printed in the 1970's and/or 1980's. I don't have anything newer than that. And I believe that I read somewhere that downsizing the image to less that 50% or upsizing to greater than 150% takes care of my problem. At my age (83) memory is a big problem for me. I have an Epson scanner that scanned everything until it upgraded itself to new software. Since the upgrade I can not scan any US currency.
Epson is horrible to use and deal with when it comes to scanning notes. I will not buy any Epson scanners or (or dual scanners/printers) because of the restrictions. I recommend using HP. This could of course change but I have yet to encounter restrictions using HP scanners.
