I have been struggling with the issue on this coin and haven't a clue what the exact issue is if that makes any sense. o_O
It looks like some kind of stain or damage to me but not quite sure. ??
It looks like an Improperly annealed planchet, but I haven't seen one like it so far.
Don't be shy. Give me your feedback please. :D
    If not, no problem. :snaphappy:

I would call that one a stain.

Besides a stain it looks normal to me. I am interested to hear what others have to say. Does the area look like it is peeling?

Try soaking it in acetone for a few hours and see if is changes the color a bit.

Higher resolution image might help. There seems to be a raised edge around some of it but it's hard to tell.

Not an expert, but it looks like a stain. It looks to be the same color that one of them becomes when just left in circulation long enough, and a number of substances would produce that color rather quickly.

    Thanks all. I'm convinced it's a stain also. :(

Here is the Orange seen on some of those improperly annealed.

I was looking for a nickel with the burnt orange tone. Couldn't find it. Tones can be decieving

Given the metss as is in the Presidential Dollars I would go with a stain.
