Coin collecting is a wonderful hobby and has consumed most of my life.... However the coins you are showing here are simply damaged. But don't give up!

The coins you posted were damaged after they left the mint. We call them spenders. It takes time to learn about coins as I welcome to CT. Stick around and you’ll learn a lot.

Keep this in mind.. Just because a coin looks strange, different or weird does not mean it is automatically a Mint error. There are plenty of ways coins can be altered or damaged after they leave the US Mint.

Please post any future threads with questions if a coin has an error over at the Error Coins section of CoinTalk, not the What's it Worth forum o_O

Many true errors you will find in circulation have very little or no kind of premiums at all unfortunately.

Also, we don't call them Mint Destroyed. Mint damage or mint errors are the preferred terminology.

There are plenty of "mint destroyed" coins but then they are not coins anymore. :)

One thing that will be good for you as a beginner is to stay off of Youtube. It's not a good place to begin. While you are reading on CT might I encourage you to also browse and read the site below.
Bookmark it and when someone says Capped dies you have a reference as too what a real one looks like.
    It is a great reference.

I think this is exactly what you mean. I have a few waffled coins. These were both defective quarters that were destroyed by the mint.

Yes that's right, I remember seeing examples of those. Not sure how they get out of the mint though. I was mostly referring to the mint's melt bucket.

I’d have to say mint employees steal them but I have no idea.

Because they are sent out of the US mint to be processed by another source.

When they are sent out many of them are taken by employees from another facility.

From the web - "Waffled coins are coins that contained an error or imperfection and had to be waffle cancelled by the U.S. Mint. They are created from error coins, and when the mint mistakenly creates errors, they waffle the errors and they are then shipped off to a vendor for melting. Coins are waffled as a means of cancellation before they are melted down."
