Finally started expanding into different coinage and just picked up my first SLQ and Barber Half yesterday. Currently looking at this shield nickel, flying eagle cent, buffalo nickel and another 3 cent nickel as my next pick ups. Also have bids in for these Morgans that I don't have yet but I'll probably get outbid. Either way, I'm stoked. My interview for Engineering & Facilities is being scheduled either for tomorrow or Friday so that'll come with more coin (in the bank) and I'm pretty confident I'll get the job. Wish me luck!
That's not a shield nickel though the design is quite similar. That is a two cent copper. First US coin with the "In God We Trust" logo. A very cool and historic series to collect. Good choice!
I don’t see a shield nickel but I do see a Two Cent Piece. They can be confusing if you only look at the shield. Be wishes on what you decide to purchase.
Ah, my mistake! There's been so many "odd denomination" coinage I've come across (Trimes, 3 cent nickels, etc) but a shield nickel is definitely on the list as well My plan is to get all of them (hopefully)
Update: Secured the 1865 Two Cent Piece, I am fully anticipating on getting outbid on the Morgans (which is fine) because I'll buy this instead if i do:
Take your time and buy the correct coin for you. Buy the coin, not the slab it’s in. One day you’ll have all of the coin denomination's.
Yeah I've been buying a lot more raw coins lately, to me it's even more impressive to find some quality coins without them being graded
I understand as I have a few of them. I’m working on other items so I’ve never tried to assemble a set of them.
