This is a pretty neat medal commemorating 50th anniversary of Japan Mint in Osaka. I don't know how many were issued.

    Issued in 1921

Featuring 1870 yen, Taisho 5 / 10 sen and the reverse of the Meiji gold coins.

An interesting fact - did you know that the original Japan mint machinery came from Hong Kong Mint?

Wow. This IS nice! Great relief on the flowers. I especially like how the mint building itself is in featured along with the coins. The Koreans later in the 1980s were clearly inspired by this same design layout for their medals.

I really like medals produced for Mint anniversaries or other commemorations for Mints.

I have several exonumia from the Korean Mint.

I love medals/coins with other coins on them! That obverse scene is really pleasing.

There are a few of Japanese coin on medals. This is another example

This medal was recreated by the Korean Mint using Korean coin images:

No, I doubt the packaging is similar, although I do not have images of it. I believe the Koreans used a "fuzzy" velvet hinged jewel case for these.
