I’m looking for help from anyone that knows anything about these coins. It weights 9g and dia is 27mm. Per google it says around 7g and around 28mm. What’s your thoughts?
Cool token, I think it's legit but I don't know who made them! I doubt it's a US Mint creation but I could be wrong, it's happened once before, long ago!
Hope this helps: https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1783-copper-washington-independence-large-military-bust-bn/667
It's not a US Mint creation because it was made nine years before the US Mint was established. These are cool, though I don't know very much about them. It wouldn't surprise me if they're listed in the Red Book. I don't recall offhand.
Got a few different ones. Always thought they were pretty cool and fairly inexpensive. The one pictured is probably worth around 100 or so
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia158696.html Numista says 27.8mm and 6.2g. I don't know anything about these, but the shape of George's lapel looks off. The images are bad though - rotated and at an odd angle - so it could be that. Compare with examples. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin...ndependence-large-military-bust-bn/images/667
I don’t know too much about this specific issue (having owned only one of the double-headed Washington type before), but it would not surprise me at all if there were slight variances in the weight and diameter of the flans, and several varieties within the type, maybe? I mean, we are talking about the 1780s, after all.
A Portrait Piece Military Bust. Is the edge smooth? Also, Lord is correct, it is in the Redbook, I think in the Post Colonial. I think there are 3-4 types. Comparing it to my pieces, I think this is the Small Bust, but I don't know which since I can't see the edge.
