Happened to stumble across a vendor selling these recently. They aren't anything special, nothing worth grading, but figured I would like to share.
Picked this up last night. J-160, Prf 63 BN with a green bean. Excluding the gold coin patterns I need just two more to complete a denomination set of US Patterns. I'm missing a Twenty Cent and a Half Cent pattern. I'll probably never complete the set as the Half Cent patterns are extremely rare. I've never seen one offered for sale.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I have a few SLQs and they are cruel mistresses to try and collect a full set. I'll just hang on to the few I have and admire you guy's beauties.
Love those VOC coin thingy's! Had one and sold it I think. It was somewhat dark. I think it was a shipwreck coin if I remember correctly.
I love them too! From my understanding they're called "duits", but simplified they're colonial pennies. I have one predating the Fugio Cent/signing of the Declaration of independence/Constitution and establishment of the US Mint.
Yours say, "Genuine". Is that mean that they are "cleaned" or problematic? I've seen this type of slab but never knew what it meant. Here's a link to numista.com on them. Are you familiar with the site? 1 Duit (Holland) - Netherlands East Indies (1601-1949) – Numista
My racketeering nickel says the same thing but I think it’s more because it’s an oddity/nongradeable coin. I could be wrong because I most often see them without a grade or raw (just came across one made from silver that was graded AU55 though so I could be wrong.) Either way, I didn’t pay too much for them and I love the way they look. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3154441997...YYw9bLoQeO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I also completely overlooked you asking me if I was familiar with the website. I’m not at all familiar with it, but I’m going to be
Picked this up this past Sunday. It's destined for my suite of low mintage coins that worked for a living. VG-08.
