A morgan dollar was used as a background for a different token/altered coin. It's not fake, it's not illegal, he's selling these items as it is. No lies involved. If a buyer decides to sell his coins as real 64 dollars then that's their problem.
So it legal to deface and sell it too. IS THAT CORRECT?? If so when does it becoming counterfeiting then
Honest question...can you spend a hobo nickel or a carr fantasy date? if not then should they still be called nickels or dollars? semantic snoopy wants to know damnit.
Nor would you mind being paid with DC morgan dollas'? It's still a morgan underneath the new image placed on it.
While this thread is still running on another set of tracks, do any of the DCarr bashers have an answer to my question regarding the linked ebay auction. Come on guys, you hate counterfeits, right?
Then one can only hope you feel the same about ANY fantasy piece or even counterfeit. Even though many here like to picture some evil chinaman producing copies for no better reason than to burn the poor innocent collector, most are simply catering to a demand the same as Carr is, yet this little fact is almost always conveniently ignored. If it's perfectly acceptable for Mr. Carr to produce copies that could, regardless of his shallow efforts, be used to burn someone, then logic, common sense, and simple decency dictate that the same must be applied to all producers, including the oh so despised Asians. The "intent" crutch is always used to defend Carr copies, so it's high time people started accepting the reality that there wouldn't be so many Chinese fakes and fantasy pieces is there wasn't an American demand. Well isn't that wonderful! Who knew all we needed was for you to step in and finally answer the question once and for all. Gee, thanks...
DC's doesn't sell Morgan dollars. He sells bullion that he copied someone else's design and stamped on it. At least hobo 5c are original works.
And many in the pro camp post the same things over and over again as well, but I don't see you complaining about that or taking it upon yourself to dictate what they should say or do. Funny how that works, isn't it? Not once have I seen anyone ever take the position that his copies present anywhere near the problem eBay does, yet again and again this very arguement is presented as if it has. It's nothing more than deflection intended to divert attention away from the issue at hand, which in this case is your statement that someone needs to correct him, not because anything he has said or posted is wrong, but because you don't like or agree with it. Had you actually taken the time to try to disprove any of his posts you'd have done so. With all due respect, you've no right to portray factual and backed-up statements as wrong simply because you personally disagree. That said, so certain individuals want him to invest his efforts into eBay; so what? Since when do these people get to dictate what others should think or do with their time? You may think he should do this or that, but it's not your decision to make, and if you really feel that strongly about it, perhaps you should take up the cause as your own. Keeping in mind that far more than participating members read these threads, have you considered the fact that this may be his entire point?
So here you have it folks, the pinnacle of hypocrisy. The DC bashers are totally ignoring the fact that an established dealer has been fooled by an 1885-CC Morgan Dollar that is not the real deal. They do not really care about the real counterfeit threat. Their only concern is that somebody's grandmother may get duped by a DCarr fantasy overstrike.
His coins aren't counterfeit. He used real coins and stamped a new design on 'em. With the Chinese counterfeit coins, the metal used is not the same as the originals, in DC's case it is. (hopefully I'm saying that right) To your last statement my point there was that hobo nickels were carved as pieces of art, that's not my opinion on DC's coins, I was just throwing out a suggestion on how to view his coins. Then that's bullion.
I don't believe that was his intention, I think he's stating that those who hate DC coins are putting there efforts in the wrong place.
And I don't really care if the DC bashers get it. I just want to point this out to all the bystanders that are only reading this.
