Its only $$$. The coin would make you happier. Now imagine my situation 14K Sfrcs + 20 % BP = 16.8 SFRCS 16.8K S = 26KC $ + HST 13% =30K Can$ That was still cheap compared CNG
Yes, but I will still have to pay the 25% VAT on the Feldman and Attica coins, plus I have many active bids, and if I win them, I will have to pay the 25% VAT on some of them as well, so I am glad I didn't bid any higher, the thought of paying 4500 EUR in VAT for a single coin to the communist moochers at customs is , so hopefully the next time a coin I am willing to pay a five-figure sum for is put up for auction, it will be somewhere in the EU (or at an non-EU coin auction house that doesn't work for customs here), also it would be good if I was made aware of it being put up for auction well in advance, so that I am able to save up money for it specifically.
My brother in law just came back from Croatia. They said it was beautifull beyond their dreams. They went to Dubrovnik and the Islands off West Coast. Also said people were very friendly and helpfull. Syria just fell to good guys! Ya, I also I am going to try to avoid coins till next Winter and save $$$$ for some dream coins. Make sure that auctions are EU based/ so coins can be set to Spain/ to avoid 13% customs. Thats if the C$ does not tank completely ! Edited
I have once again put in a record bid, the coin is up for auction in a little under a month, I will let you know how it turns out.
Very cool coin. I keep wanting a nice owl, and I know if I really want to get one, I will have to just man up and shell out the shekels, for they are not getting any cheaper. My main focus on collecting is very far from ancient Greek, still, I would have no problem loving a nice AR Greek owl. Maybe I go look for one now.
If you account for inflation, probably this coin. I won it in 2003 for 11KUS/ like 25K in 2025. This one from Tkalec a close second. One from Triton 2 third place at 7K+fees. Fourth place from Pannonia Terra auction 6.6K + fees euros. Fifth place AV Aureus Vespasian 17.5K in 2024. Sixth place 18K 2024 Brabant/ Spanish Netherlands AV Doble Sobrano 1619 (2 known) Albrecht VIII & Elizabeth
I didn't win it: https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/l...ondon-mint-mm-eglatine-elizabeth-i-pcgs-au-58 My maximum bid was 10000 EUR, somebody else won it with a cut-bid of 10500 EUR.
Also now you are "loaded for bear" in Brunn Sale I would go for Christina Livonia Dukat/ much nicer/ rarer and she was a hottie compared to that "witch" Elizabeth I. Good with a sword too....
I won't bid on any of the Brunn coins, I will wait for the Hong Kong Showcase Auction and try to win the two coins that interest me the most there.
Wow, you all are in the other end of the pool! Yikes. Used to be a "player" but now on the sidelines (mostly).
I have put in a record bid for a coin that is up for auction this week, hopefully this will be a case of third time lucky.
