No, I have put both of my Dubrovnik coins up for auction with Stephen Album Rare Coins, and I am not going to buy any new ones, so feel free to bid on it.
That is true, and I have never seen an explanation anywhere why this was the case, Dubrovnik was for a time a very rich city and Gold was available, so if they had wanted to, they could have easily minted their own Gold coins, but I guess they thought that using Venetians Gold Ducats or whatever for trade was easier than minting and using their own Gold coins...

Since Ragusa was old name for Croatia. Was it Pavelic who secured Independence from Yugoslavia that got it named Croatia? Ragusa sounds like a nice name too Romania should really be called Wallachia.
Ragusa is not the old name of Croatia, it is the Italian name of the Republic of Dubrovnik, which existed between 1358 and 1808. Croatia has been called Croatia continuously since the 7th century, so Pavelić obviously had zero to do with it.
Too bad its in such bad quality. I once almost won one in FDC for same price. That coin will remain "unsold"
I agree, I am also annoyed that the Aurelian one from the Siscia mint that Nomos are auctioning has an edge crack: https://www.numisbids.com/sale/9098/lot/737
I would love that one, its MS. Plus edge crack is from strike. Portrait is beautifull. Looks like Quintillus!
