How much under weight should a quarter be before we “care?” This isn’t light enough to be struck on dime stock, but could be a thin rolled planchet. The coin pings funny (how I found it), but otherwise looks like a normal circulated quarter. This gets between 5.161-5.163g on my scale.
Since it doesn't look damaged (dryer coin, etc.) Then Paddy's thinly rolled planchet has value. I found this coin which is super thin and underweight, but I just assumed it was damaged. 1989-P. If not damaged it should grade P-01.
Actually, it was me who first suggested it was a thinly rolled planchet but I agree with you both, and that your coin is damaged, which caused the lower weight.
