Reject Tube & Coinstar Finds

Discussion in 'Coin Roll Hunting' started by Hellofthenorth, Feb 20, 2012.

  1. No, I just find them in the coinstar machine at my local supermarket most of the time, I keep the good stuff and sell the beat up stuff to my local coin shop.

Pennies, pennies and some more pennies, I looked down to check the reject box and I found it to be almost filled to the top with pennies, Good thing it's winter time and I got my big coat with the deep pockets because when I was done filling my pockets I had like 7 pounds of pennies in them, too bad none of them were old or even copper.

I'm gonna be nice, and just say I am 'extremely skeptical', but yeah, I could drive from CS to CS 24/7/365 and I doubt I could find a fraction of what he has

  7. I have gone 8 years without finding anything good and this seems to be my year,if you want to find the good stuff go to a Walmart or a Shoprite and you will have a good chance of finding the good stuff and look for machines that have a pullout box because most times people don't check behind the pullout box and a lot of good coins can and do miss the box so it would be smart to look for those machines if they are in your city or state. Also look for people who look like their under the influence of drugs using the coin counting machines because they also leave behind a lot of goods and they are in too much of a hurry to check for rejected coins. Also if coin counting machines are not working out for you too well you can do half dollar coin roll hunting and come up with some silver coins.

  8. So you are calling my good luck BS, that's OK because I will injoy this streak of good luck while it last.

I use to find coins at the coinstar at my local grocery store, but then stopped finding them so often, because the guy who gets the carts is constantly watching the machine and getting any coins that people leave behind. If that person actually works at a place with a coinstar, they could get a lot of change every day.

Anyway, I went in one night later on, after the cart guy was done for the day. I walked in and saw a jackpot of quarters. I was hoping they were all silver, but they were all clad. Got over $20 worth. I think I posted it on here. Sometimes you get extremely lucky.

Edit: I was wrong, I didn't get $20. Here is my post from August:

" I walked into the store tonight and saw a jackpot. I was hoping it was all silver, but it wasn't. I got $11.75 U.S. quarters, 3 U.S. nickels, $1.75 in Canadian quarters, one of which is a 1968 50% silver quarter (non-magnetic), a cayman islands 25 cent piece, Canadian dime, two Canadian nickels, a 5 cent piece from the Bahamas, and a 1964 British six pence."

Sure you can find decent scores if you work there, but $2.53 worth of wheats, 2 buffalo nickels, ihc's, etc, etc, in a couple months time is a little hard to believe. I work overnights so I check every night when I arrive at work and I've only found 2 silvers since Sept.

It's all luck of the draw. I found two silver Rosies a week apart in Aug, then nothing until I spotted another silver Rosie in mid Nov. If you're persistent, you can stumble upon some decent finds.. in my experience they're few and far between, but the feeling of finding free silver is always a rush.

Monthly total for Dec/2016 was 9.67 plus a Mercury Dime.

. Coin star search from April-Dec totals coming soon.
Silver was rare towards the latter part of the year but did find 4 Silver Quarters 5 Silver Dimes. Couple of Mercury Dimes.
Many, many world coins. Back soon with totals for the abbreviated year.
