Hi all, On the last day of 2016, Sunday afternoon, I decided to do one more Metal Detecting trip to my local park. I found this coin about 4 inches deep. It confused me a bit when I read the dual dates. First I thought it was a 1993, then when I got home I noticed it was dated 2003. Upon searching the Numista website turns out that the 1993 date is recognizing when the Central Bank Of Pilipinas was established. The Reverse of the coin looks bad because it had some type of adhesive stuck to it. I dipped it in acetone for about an hour and it the gunk came off.
Where is your "local park" (country is close enough, for privacy reasons)? That's not the sort of thing I'd expect to find in the US, normally.
NYC - Lower Manhattan This is a map of the park I have been detecting for the past 6 years. East River Park aka John V. Lindsay Park. I was built in the early 1940's. The Star on the map is where I live and the circle is where I found the Philippine Coin. This is a pretty huge park. Plenty more to be found!
Huh, that is a lot more specific than I was expecting. And I'm surprised you found something modern and foreign there. But I guess NYC gets quite a bit of immigrants. We had a Filipino family join our church when I was in high school. They knew that I collected coins, so they gave me one of these (in slightly nicer condition )
