1970-D US nickel, capped die strike

    I found this coin roll hunting today. I think it’s a capped die strike. Opinions for or against that?

    Possibly is. It looks to be either that or a major grease error, both of which are worth some money.

    I think the sharp strike edge at the bottom of monticello and at the dome right
    indicates damage after strike. Capped die strike should not show any sharpness
    of strike. In other word all the details of the die should be smooshed all over the complete coin to the same extent.

    I can see a late stage die cap. I would like to know which side was the hammer die, Not sure on that one. @alurid may have a point.
