Coin damage

    1918 penny: I'm assuming this is a post mint applied heat blemish,

    I see a stain and wear, not certain if heat related. I mean, really, what can you expect after 107 years?

    No way to say what actually caused it. The coin has been harshly cleaned, it might even have been a product of that.

    That would be a Planchet issue.
    Lamination crack right under the IGWT area.

    You've definitely got the eye for errors, didn't even notice that I was focused on the stain on Lincoln's head!

    The ring on Abe's face looks like a mark that can form while being soaked in a acidic solution. Caustic burn coloration.

    Oh what a shame!! A beautiful lamination mint error from rim to rim through Lincoln’s face. Unfortunately the coin has been harshly cleaned and possibly soaked in some form of acid.
