I believe I got a good deal here, what do ya'll think? The weirdest thing happened yesterday, I saw this for auction with a $329 reserve and really loved it. If it's not DMPL, they don't make them. I added it to my watch list because I wanted to easily find what it hammered at, a little too much for this month's coin budget. When I woke up this morning, I had a message from the seller asking me to go ahead and pay for it. I did NOT bid on it. That's the weirdest thing thats ever happened to me on eBay. Yet it was sitting in my cart. WTH? I messaged the seller and told him what happened. He cancelled the sale, and asked me why I didn't want it. I explained the above. Then he told me he had purchased it just a year ago for around $700, but had medical bills to pay so he was unloading some of his collection. I felt bad about it, so I had him make me an offer through the site. I bought for the reserve amount. There is a video on the listing as well, but I'm not smart enough to post it here. It is an amazing coin. I may end up regretting it, but I felt sorry for the guy having to sell his treasures. Is there a die punch error on the reverse at the top rim???
Well, she's here! It's everything advertised and more. I'll be sending it in with 7 other coins to PCGS next week to burn my vouchers up. I wish I could take a decent photo, but I'll pay for true view for this one. There is a video the coin if the link still works. Click the link, scroll down and tap the diagonal arrows on the main photo in the top right corner and it opens the entire set of photos and the video. https://www.ebay.com/itm/205315534843
Hey @Barney McRae here us a good read and something we used often CT to get an idea of a PL coin VS a DMPL or a semi PL. I am not sure what standards they use nowadays with Market grading. But it should help you with determining the difference. PS Frost on the devices have nothing to do with the designation. https://boards.ngccoin.com/topic/115116-dmpl-vs-pl/
Were you able to access the video in the link? The photographer rolled the coin back and forth and passed it over a Florida Lottery ticket that has a lot of different colors. It was mirror like at a good 5-6 inches, that is as far away as the video provided. There are very few flaws on the fields and devices as well. I will cry if it doesn't come back a minimum of MS65, PL. The still shots do not even come close to revealing how nice it is.
It's likely that P.T. Barnum never said, “there’s a sucker born every minute,” but today it might have been me. This is a set of scrip issued in 1933 for the 50th anniversary of the Ringling Brothers Circus:
This month's probably only purchase. She's a lowly 1884O, but I loved the coin. I already have several UNC in this date and mint, but was too pretty to pass up. I normally don't like toning, but this one caught my eye. Won it in an auction, didn't pay very much. Any guess on the grade? Looks very unbaggy, no scratches, hairlines either. Seems to be a weak strike though. We'll find out when it gets here. It is a VAM of some nature but I could not figure it out. Has clashes on the reverse but I got nowhere with it. Not a top VAM, but whatever. Not sure why CT doesn't enlarge it when you click on it.
I'm just seeing your reply now and attaching better pictures I took myself. It's a half dollar as stated on the reverse, but a commemorative one.
I collect circulated coins, regular mint issue. But, I've got a few uncirculated, and a few proof that I've "ran across at the right price". But, they're just "add- ons", not my fucus. Likewise, I don't collect Error Coins. However, if I was to "run across one", I would "hang on to it". I have a one cent 1922 no D, very circulated, by the way. I've got my Buffalo Nickel set complete, but didn't bother with the 1937 D 3 Leg, because it is an error coin. That changed, yesterday. Ran across this one at a coin shop (don't have a local one, this one is just in a place I pass through frequently). It's not graded, just right for my collection, but it's probably VF to VF+. He made me an offer that I didn't refuse, so I'll add it to my Buffalo Nickel Collection. I'm still not back home, yet, so I hurriedly took a couple of pictures.
Have wanted one of these for a long time. I’d had one a while back and been forced to sell it. Glad I got to add her back to the collection

All seller pictures that I paired for simplicity. Bought the '64 Star Proof just now (for my mom's birth year), got a really great deal on the 1888-O Morgan (I paid 45 bucks for it). I usually don't buy coins that are cleaned, but the two duits pictured below I bought because I love the way they look and they didn't cost me too much. Also won the 1912-D pictured, got outbid on 3 or 4 others (They sold for 120.00+). There's only one more Lincoln related coin I want to add to the set before moving onto different stuff, but I did pretty well this past week or so.
What the heck is that purple "TraderBea" case? I've never seen that before. Is that an official PCGS case or do they crack them out and put the label in their own case?
