    Hello everyone,
I have made a big decision concerning my huge Mint Error collection. I will be listing both attributed and raw mint errors on my eBay account. This will be the first time ever that I sell any of my mint errors!

As some of you know my wife and I are doing repairs on our future home that I inherited in Fajardo Puerto Rico. It has become costly doing some minor demolition, the new roof protection, windows, electrical and plumbing. I also have airfare and car rental payments to make.

I'm running out of funds, so I need to sell some coins and other items that I have collected over the years. I'm sad about it but it will be helpful in our process. I hate borrowing money, and I never will!

So, one day early next week I will share my listings on eBay on the For Sale section of CoinTalk so you can see if you're interested in any of the items. I might start with 20 Slabs and about two dozen raw mint errors. I have a lot!

I also have dreaded lawyer fees to pay off. But I have a great guy who's helped us with all the crazy laws in Puerto Rico concerning title changes and other factors we needed to attend to.

Thanks for your thoughts, comments and attention.

Hey, and I'm also listing a fairly new metal detector. Only used 3 times!
It comes with a Duck Caller :jawdrop:

Post a link, I would be happy to buy a few from you.
Way cool, my sister in law wants to buy property and build in the Bahamas, wants me to build it. Those dimes look to have some perty tones.

Are you a contractor? That's cool! I did not know. I personally don't know the claw end of a hammer from the blunt end. Damn it! I'm an accountant Jim! :p

Sorry to hear that you have to sell part of your wonderful collection. You can get a second job or metal detector more. :) Just trying to give you ideas.

I'm sure many here know that I have been selling much of my collection as well. In my case I'm saving the money to put back into just a few coins. I let my collection get out of hand and had to do something. These are a few things I learned over the past year.

Ebay works well but be ready for a lot of work. It takes time to create each listing and take all the images. You need great images to bring strong bids. Next you have to package and ship each coin. There will be those that don't pay and those that will return the coin for any reason they wish. Be sure to factor in all the fees, packaging and shipping charges. Be ready for coins to go missing and insure what is valuable.

Don't list more than one of the same coin at one time. You don't want the listings to compete with each other. Spread them out to end on different days.

I had to get away from Ebay. It became a full time job at the time in my life that I wanted to slow down and enjoy other things.

I'm a big fan of Great Collections auctions. I just ship them the coins and they deal with everything and I get a check in the mail. I have saved a nice amount on fees. Coins already in the top TPG holders go straight to auction. They won't auction raw coins but they will send them to be graded (you pay for the service you select) and they go to auction after that. It's not a fast process.

Raw coins are my problem. Too many that are not worthy of the grading fees. I need a better option but I'm not seeing it.

I think that @paddyman98 does property management in NY.
That is whole different ball game. I have done some commercial work. Knowing the ins and outs of those buildings is much different than stick builds. I give him props, I am a 4th gen carpenter, everyman was a carpenter before that.
    @Barney McRae
I am gonna dread selling my coins. I have so many that are raw die varieties. I hope that my kid wants to be the next caretaker. I have a lot of cataloging to do.

Depends on your raw coins and what they are. If you list them as circulated and possibly had an old cleaning, you have a strong defense against returns that eBay will make you honor. The 13% vig is pure theft. I'm not sure I'll ever sell anything on eBay, even though I love buying coins there. It's not fair to honest dealers, and there are a LOT of seller thieves that prey on dumbasses, some of them Ebay rated sellers themselves.

Is there a reason you don't want to go with GC, especially the coins already slabbed? "The lowest seller's fees - 0% for coins/banknotes that realize over $1,000 or 5% for coins/banknotes $1,000 or under" - ebay is minimum 13.25% on coins. GC listing fee is higher than ebay starting at $3 but I think that covers imaging them. If the raw ones aren't worth slabbing (ANACS $10/coin) maybe dump those on ebay. I've never sold anything but it seems like a lot less hassle to send them to GC and let them handle it all.

I’d sure love a crack at some of your treasures, Edwin, but I haven’t been on eBay in many years.

I’m in the send them to GC camp. If you’ve higher value items, maybe even consider Heritage.

How about CT. I like to help a brother achieve his dreams.
Maybe just some of what you want to sell. I don't mind paying up.

Will you be listing any error IHC’s?
Good luck with your endeavors, selling and future home.

That's too bad for you selling some of your collection but hey, you can't take all of them with you some day. I'll take a peek or two. Any Colonials errors?

I have an Ebay account. How do I save your username there? It's been a while since I bought anything.

I think the camo could be bad. Put the machine against a tree or bush and walk away to do something. When you go back to retrieve it you won't be able to find it because it is camouflaged :hilarious:
