A little hint. A US nickel weight is 5 grams. A full roll is 200 grams so I never count them. More than 2 grams off is cause to reevaluate

$21.5 in halves and 6 small dollars... nothing of interest.

Hello everyone. I am just getting back into coin roll hunting from a long hybernation. This was my finds for the month. After going through 2 boxes of halves I only managed to pull 1 clad 76s proof. I got skunked on a 1k bag of dimes. Finally hit silver searching a 1k bag of quarters, both 64d. Also found something I haven't seen in a long time, a red house quarter. And finally went through a $50 bag and a jug of pennies. Snagged 15 wheats and 13 09's a long with some copper. With all that said I enjoy seeing everyone's finds and will be sharing mine as I go along. Happy hunting and good luck.

    Dime box #3:
Silver: none (Running total so far is 6 in 3 boxes.)
    But did find a 2017-S proof, and a 2009-D, so that's something.

Amusingly, I found a better 1970-D than what I had in the album... and later found another 1970-D even better than that one lol. Also found a better 1965, 1966, 1970, and 1983-D.

Will probably try nickels again next.

    Nickel box #21:
First finally found a 1942-D, that's eluded me for years!

Foreign finds: 1984 Canada 5 cents, and 1997 Singapore 20 cents

    Other notable finds: 2x 2009-D, and a 2024-D

    All other pre-1960 finds:
    1940 x2
    1940-S
    1941 x3
    1947 x5
    1948 x2
    1949
    1952
    1952-D
    1954-D x2
    1956
    1956-D
    1957-D x3
    1958
    1958-D
    1959-D

Also a few 80's and 90's upgrades, and a really nice 2004-D Peace Medal.

No silver or buffaloes sadly (despite a lot of fake-outs with 2005 bison nickels lol), but still a great box! Finally filled a hole that's been bugging for quite some time and a new coin for my foreign coin collection.

After hearing Trump talk about killing the Lincoln Cent my curiosity got the best of me so I went to my bank to buy a box expecting them to tell me they couldn't sell me anymore. They did and into the second roll I found this 1944 S and after a few more rolls four wheaties and a 1952 Canadian Cent.

He's ordered them to stop making pennies. That doesn't mean pennies will be recalled, or that they will cease to be legal tender (we stopped making half cents, but in theory you could still spend those if you wanted). In Canada neither of those things happened 12 years ago when they decided to stop producing the Canadian cent. Entire other thread on this, but just wanted to say, don't expect pennies to just disappear immediately because they're not going to be made anymore. Banks will likely continue to carry them as long as there's a reason to.

We are talking about Trump, right?

*No, we are not. We are discussing coin-roll hunting finds. Please stick to numismatic topics and avoid steering the conversation into politics. Thanks. ~Mod.

Suppose there's nothing "political" about saying yes, President Trump did indeed issue an executive order to stop minting the penny.

Again though, pennies are not being recalled, and they are still legal tender (based on other US coins and denominations we discontinued, that will likely always be the case). They just won't be minting any more of them. Banks will likely still be ordering them as long as they feel a need to (basically, as long as there's customer demand for them), and as long as there's any to order, which considering the billions of them in circulation will be for quite some time. I imagine at some point they will eventually fade from circulation, but that will likely be several years in the future.

Yeah, I understand that there often aren't enough of them in the right hands at the right time (i.e. for making change) - but surely there are enough of them in existence now. Even considering the inevitable decay of Zincolns.

You're going to probably call me a liar but, last night I found this 1960 " Cent" in this new box and it sure looks like a proof large date. 63869.jpeg 63870.jpeg 63869.jpeg 63871.jpeg
