Ever have one of those random thoughts that are meaningless in the scheme of things, but drove you loony trying to figure it out? Well this is one of those. I couldn't even find an answer on Google. So here's the question and @BuffaloHunter you are welcomed to help me retire this question in my overtaxed brain. How many times has the buffalo been featured as a design element on our coins. This is what my feeble brain came up with: Buffalo Nickel Westward Journey Nickel South Dakota State Quarter The Buffalo Gold Bullion Coins What am I missing?

Didn’t take long to find the contest. Can’t believe I ran this thing 18 years ago. Randy, the Kansas state quarter has a Buffalo but the Buffalo is on the North Dakota quarter. The South Dakota quarter is Mt. Rushmore. Also the 2007 Montana has the skull of a Buffalo so does that count? A lot of people think it’s a longhorn steer but it’s a Buffalo. Also the Buffalo has been on paper money as well.

According to Wikipedia it's not really certain. Black Diamond is the common legend, but was never at the Bronx zoo where Fraser claimed he found his subject. "Bronx", the herd leader at the Bronx Zoo, is another candidate.
While searching for the pics of that 1918 Lincoln I ran across this collage that I made at the time I ran that contest. Photos taken of the tatanka's in my herd. If nobody is going to volunteer to do the digging to update the list, I guess I'll have to take it on. Just won't happen any time soon as I'm quite busy with work and more doctoring.
