I can't think of another coin I can acquire that would knock it off the top spot. There are two more 'dream coins' I would love to get my hands on, but at best they would tie for first with my current #1. Coining wise, 2016 will be a tough year to beat. I had a lot of fun acquiring the coins and talking about them here on CT!
It's all part of the fun! Actually, I'm currently chasing down another rarity, but it seems to be slipping away ...
I'm a little late to this party but I have to say this is a spectacular top ten list. I would be ecstatic to obtain any of them but 5, 2 and 1 would be my top three. Thanks for sharing these.
Thanks Nemo! I'm going to struggle just to have a Top Five list for 2017 that competes with it. But who knows ... I didn't see many of the above coins coming!
Congratulations on a terrific year. Great coins. My personal favorites are the quinarii. Fractions are often overlooked in ancient numismatics in favor of the "larger canvasses". I look at fractions as masterpieces in miniature.
I wasn't expecting most of my own top favorite coins either. If I was told at the beginning of 2016 that I would get siliquae of two very rare usurpers, a Visigothic gold tremissis, and another gold solidus (only a year after getting my first), I probably would have chuckled in disbelief. Great set David!
