Ok, I won earlier and very grateful. I love the East India Company coins - I work with several and I collect various India coins for conversation and comraderie. If only they could cook some Tandori chicken for me!

Please count me in for the Roman Empire: ca. 318-320 AD bronze Æ17 of Licinius II, camp gate, Heraclea mint:

Why? I'll reiterate my story from last giveaway: Because it would commemorate a great spring event that I took part in. This past April 2024, my wife and I volunteered to help excavate at the Roman Vindolanda Fort, near Hadrian's wall in northern England. It was a great two weeks of work, digging up a 3rd/4th Century Roman Fort, finding walls, roads, pottery, jewelry, and yes, even Roman Coins!!! Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us keep any of the coins we found, so this would be a nice commemorative of the time I spent there. And, this actually looks like one of the coins that were found while we were there (the one I found was too mucked up with mud to identify, and they didn't want us to clean them)!

Here's one thing that I did find, that you can probably see at the Vindolanda Museum! It's a 4th Century metal and glass Brooch. And, the clasping mechanism on the back was still in tact, and operable! It's dirty in this pic, but they'll clean it up before putting it in the museum. I hope to go back and see it there some day!

Thanks again for the contest @lordmarcovan!

You keep retelling that story, and I haven’t gotten tired of reading it yet. What an amazing experience! I’d have wet myself from excitement when finding that brooch. Never mind not being able to keep it. The experience alone would have been phenomenal.

Here’s an extra bonus entry to increase your odds. Maybe that campgate coin will be yours in this or a future drawing, should the random number gods smile upon you.

I quite like that token, and sorta want one now. What was the significance of the 9? That’s always been a lucky number for me.

    Interesting.

Yep. I was raised in the Baha’i Faith. Nine is a significant number to Baha’is, as mentioned in that article.

Not sure about the numbers, there's one with a 7 on it on the bay but it's really worn and a bit over priced. I have a couple different ones with different dates here's another. John Matthews was huge in the soda water industry and was known as the soda fountain king for making a soda water device, here's a link with more information.

Thanks for the extra entry, Rob!

I guess I have to come up with some different/better stories! I have a number of them from that Vindolanda excavation! But, this story is the reason I'd like to own that coin.

My wife and I went to Vindolanda (northern England, near Hadrian's Wall along the Scotland border) in April 2024 on a two-week volunteer trip to excavate the Roman Fort. There were 25 of us from all over the world, so it was great getting to know people from England, Scotland, South Africa, etc. There were only four of us from the USA - one woman from California, my wife and I from Wisconsin, and one other man, who we found out was not only from our same state, but lives 2 miles away from us!!! His son and our younger daughter went to high school together!!! And, we met him in England, on a volunteer excavation of a Roman Fort! How cool is that?!?!!!

    OK, I'll bite too!

    The trio of Columbus-related coins:

I just love the historical theme that's represented there!
For better and for worse, the Columbus discovery was one of the more significant moments for humanity.

Thank you LordM for your generosity, AND for spreading some entertainment and joy! Everyone wins!

    I'll go for the 1888 Morgan dollar graded MS61. For a 61, that's a pretty nice coin!
