I found this today looking through my nickels. I wish it was in better shape, but still a cool find! Feel free to share yours if you have one. :)

At one time I used to go through boxes of nickels looking for things of collecting value. I think I must have gone through 200 boxes. Anyway I found one of these and possibly two. I say possibly two because the other one I found the date was almost completely gone but I could tell from the way it was doubled it had to be 1939. A book on minting errors for nickels says there are 2 versions of the 1939 doubled die with one being worth more than the other one but I think the one you and I found are the more valuable ones.

Thanks! It was one of the last in the pile I was going through, very unexpected.

I usually don't look at Nickels unless they are older (Before 1939).
What have I missed, huh? :(

There are TONs of things to look at. D/horizontal D’s, DDRs, Henning Nickels, etc. Never too late to start looking now!

I never found one of these in the wild, had to buy all mine, but bought a nice one.

That’s a beauty! I think I’ll add mine to my next ICG submission. I think I’ll keep a small collection of slabbed error coins I found. I’ll now go back through and check for the reverse of 38.

That's how I found my 1939 Henning...one of the last to check. Better late than never.
