On the reverse the marking between the L & A of dollar is raised so not a scratch. Would appreciate your comments since I can't find this coin anywhere . You're comments have always helped this old man in the past. hanking you in advance.
Scratches are raised on a coin when the die is scratched. Metal flows into the scratch when struck by the die. It is then transferred to the planchet when struck by the die. The metal flows into the scratch and it becomes raised. Die cracks do this all the time. Your coin was hit by a reeded coin, like a quarter. You can see the low spots have raised rough edges.
