    Hey all,
I was messing around with my loupe and found what appears to be an "F" type mint mark on the obverse of my 1936 Buffalo Nickel (nothing under the "FIVE CENT" motto on the reverse). I was wondering if anyone could fill me on on if this is a possibility, if they're rare, etc? I can provide more photos tomorrow as I work nights and about to leave for work soon, but this LOOKS like an F to me and I just want to make sure I'm not nuts

The F is the designer's last initial (James Earl Fraser). The mintmark is found on the reverse of the coin, but since there isn't one, this indicates it was minted in Philadelphia.

Ah, I see. I know some coins have their designer initials in other areas, but this is a first time I've seen just one initial. My old man just told me as well that if they don't have a mint mark, it's minted in Philadelphia

Just got home from work, but holy crap I came across 3 particular listings on eBay (2 of which are the “1936-F” nickels lol). One seller I think is someone is legit but I guess doesn’t know that it’s not a mint mark, the other one I can almost guarantee you is a seller listing fakes/stolen postings because it like they just took screenshots of the exact previous sellers item and put it up, and the 3rd is a winner with a “No date-Rare Coin/Holy Grail” kind of energy to it. Then I started reading their description for the lol and my head started hurting again.
