I was looking on GreatCollections not too long ago, and the difference in some of the shades of red on the red-designated coins is quite mind blowing. So, I ask you, do you have one that fits in the "bloody red" category - meaning a lot of luster?
Both are red and full of luster and they both exhibit ghosts on the reverse. Both are the same date and mint mark and they look very much alike but I do have two of them.
Artificially? That sounds like "Advanced Rendering of Toning in, and For Coin Immortality and Lots and Lots of Yum". Toning in your pocket shouldn't be artificial, but rather intended natural toning. That really seems like a common characteristic on the 1955-S coins. Ghost O, bloody red color, great eye appeal. Those of yours are all 3 rolled into one; in other words they are very nice coins. Looking at the back from different angles, does either coin, or both, have sort of a checkerboard luster pattern?
Really? Sounds like a good thing on 55-S's. I was wondering because I have a coin graded MS-66 RD with that kind of luster. I almost could play checkers on it if I knew how to destroy PCGS plastic.
2 i got handy The 55 shows it's color great in the photo but the 58 is near impossible to take good pics of it's so so so shiny
When I photo'd this one, I lost the luster focusing the reverse. It is incredible in hand. My Photos of the reverse suck. This is back before I lost/ broke my 4th light.
