I received a email from Collective Coin
"have decided to close down Collectivecoin.com in March 2017."
    Wow that's sad news.
Anyone know how to move their photos in bulk?

I accidentally got this news in advance, a little more than a week ago, when Matt/scubafuel responded to a message I had left on the site. I was just getting geared up to start using CC a lot more (since I'm increasingly disgusted with Photobucket), and I had just started really uploading my detector finds album and Eclectic Box of 20 album over there. In fact, I made my first sale on CC just two days after getting the sad news.

It has proven an incentive for me to transfer my stuff to Galleries here, which I am as we speak just beginning to create.

Dunno about bulk file transfers. I don't know how many images you had on CC. In my case, it was still relatively small. Maybe ask Matt about that, and/or if there are any plans for a legacy site?

I hope he can find a "benevolent godfather" or small consortium of users to save the site, but I can understand why he chose not to start fundraising, since he mentioned he still might have to close the site anyway, and that would be awkward after any fundraising efforts.

Happily, after a couple of hours of fumbling around, I'm finding the Gallery feature here will actually suit my purposes better, for housing my collections. I can add hyperlinks inside the captions, which I couldn't do on CC. I can use a custom font in there, if I like. Secondary images can be added inside the caption. I can still set a custom sort order.

The only thing I can see that the Gallery here might lack which CC had is the option to click on a "For Sale" tag and have that go out to the whole membership on the day it was listed. That was a nice CC feature.

I'm so bummed and this is why I started that other thread. Someone accidentally let me know and I didn't know it was not common knowledge when I posted that.

It's an awesome site. If I had the skills I'd try and take it over, but I don't know the first thing about running a site like that! Hope there is some 'legacy' plan or I'm going to have a bunch of posts missing the photos. They really did a fantastic job with it and it's a shame it never took off more.

If anyone is a 'buyer' for it I'd kick in a subscription fee...

I'm actually happy now that it pushed me into investigating the Gallery option here. Aside from the "For Sale" option, as far as I can tell so far, the Gallery here does everything you could do at CC, and even more!

this is primarily why I do videos of my coins and photos put them up on YouTube. Not so much for others to see but, a diary of sorts of coins that I own or have owned.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Oh man, that's a bummer. I was going to start moving my stuff off the NGC registry and onto collectivecoin, since NGC decided to burn the place down.
