1858 flying eagle - whats up with this - anything?

    it looks like there is a 1 8 overwrite above the date

    please check the scan and let me know what you folks think

    Prob just coincidental enviro damage

    Yes, it's an optical illusion. You stare hard enough at these you'll see Christ. :)

    The coin has a lot of environmental damage...and I think it's just a coincidence of how the damage has formed.

    I think you got it right. Just coincidental enviro damage- an optical illusion. Many's the time I've seen "phantoms" on some of my more porous detector finds.
